After sleep or after a hot busy day, all of us have drinked water which was left for many hours in our glass on the bedside table, in the office or in a opened bottle in the car. How safe is it really?
Maybe you know that drinking water that was left in a glass is not the more healthy habit. Dust, residues, and even small insects, can fall into the glass, leaving an unhealthy water. Even in the water of a closed container, such as a bottle or jug there are purity concerns, especially because of the skin which is coated with sweat, dirt, dead skin cells, and saliva, which contacted with water in the container and after some hours microorganisms grow contaminate.
Our saliva also has bacteria. If incubated for hours, can infect the water, and to reintroduce stronger bacteria in our body. For this it is necessary to throw plastic water bottles after the first use and not to fill them again.
Leaving the water in places like your car in a bottle that is left in the sun, the temperature that it develops makes it an ideal breeding ground for bacteria, especially if you have already drunk from it. Placing the container under your seat can reduce the heat slightly, but the bacteria will continue to grow up.
Some plastic bottles contain BPA or similar chemical substances that may end up in the water, especially when exposed to sunlight. There are researches which show that BPA substance may be linked to health problems that affect the brain. Using a BPA-free plastic container or bottle eliminates this problem, but not the growth of bacteria, especially if you use a metal bottle, which heats up quickly, triggering the germs to multiply.
